Chris Taylor -Director of Bands PHHS
Christopher Taylor is currently in his ninth year of teaching music. He is the Director of Bands at Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, IN. At PHHS, he teaches the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Beginning Trumpets, Music Theory, and oversees the guard and percussion programs. Under his direction the Wind Ensemble has earned Gold Ratings at ISSMA contest in Group I, including their first trip to the State Qualifications. The Marching Band has grown in size and quality earning a top 10 finish at State Fair and advancing to the ISSMA regionals for the first time in 7 years.
Prior to PHHS, Chris taught at Highland High School. At Highland, he co-taught up to three levels of concert bands (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band) and also taught up to three levels of jazz bands (Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Lab Band, and Blues Band). He also taught a percussion class and Bagpipes for a year. The Highland Jazz Ensemble was selected to perform at the 2006 IMEA Convention. He co-taught the marching band focusing on the visual program. The marching band was successful in ISSMA field shows (placing 5th in Class B State Finals) and the Indiana State Fair Band day earning 1st place in 2005. Since Christopher was at Highland, the marching band has performed in the Walt Disney World and Disneyland parades, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Indianapolis 500 Parade, and the Hollywood Christmas Parade in 2006.
In 2006, he began the Madison County Jazz Festival for bands in the area. He brought in outstanding clinicians and guest artists, which is helping the festival grow each year. Guest artists have included Mark Buselli, Brent Wallarab, Jeff Coffin, and Tom Garling.
Christopher graduated from Ball State University cum laude in 2000 and Madison Heights High School in 1996. At Madison Heights, he was drum major for 2 years and received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award for two years and the John Philip Sousa Band Award one year. While at Ball State, he held leadership positions in the collegiate Music Educators' National Association chapter and the marching band, including drum major. Christopher was a member of the wind ensemble, symphonic band, first and second jazz bands, pep band, and brass quintets. He spent seven years teaching marching bands, concert bands, and jazz bands at Anderson, Delta, Yorktown, and Greenfield-Central High Schools. He student taught at Carmel High School and also served on their marching band staff.
He is involved in the Indiana Music Educators Association along with MENC. Currently, Chris serves on the IMEA Honor Band committee. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the International Association for Jazz Educators. He has served as a clinician for the IMEA Non-Competitive Festival and is currently the state chair for that program. In 2007, he presented a clinic at the IMEA Convention. Christopher also directs the Madison County Area Directors' Jazz Band, a group of music teachers from the area who perform throughout the year. The group was selected to perform at the 2005 and 2009 IMEA Conventions. He is currently a visual adjudicator for the Central States Judging Association and a zone representative for the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA).
Christopher is very involved in being an adult volunteer for Boy Scouts. He is currently a District Commissioner, Order of the Arrow Section C-2C Adviser, and on the council youth leadership program, "White Stag," staff. He is a member of his church's choirs at First United Methodist. He resides in Anderson.

Mike Baum -Assistant Director of Bands PHHS/PHMS
Michael Baum serves as the Assistant Director of Bands at Pendleton Heights High School and Middle School. His duties include directing or co-directing Beginning Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band at the middle school, as well as Symphonic Band at the high school. Mr. Baum also directs the PHHS basketball band and Jazz Express, and he serves as an assistant director of the Marching Arabians in the fall.
Mr. Baum graduated from the Indiana State University School of Music in 2011 (Bachelor of Music Education, magna cum laude). He was named the J. A. Gremelspacher Outstanding Graduate in Music Education for 2011. While at ISU, Mr. Baum held leadership roles in several organizations, including the National Association for Music Education and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity. In addition, Mr. Baum performed on his primary instrument (saxophone) in numerous campus ensembles, and he served as drum major of the ISU Marching Sycamores for one year. Prior to graduating, Mr. Baum held teaching internships at Mayo Middle School in Paris, IL and Avon High School in Avon, IN.
Mr. Baum has served on the summer instructional staff with the Lake Central High School marching band (St. John, IN) since 2007, where his duties include teaching small and large woodwind sectionals as well as assisting in the implementation of the visual program. He is also on staff with the annual Indiana State University Drum Major Clinic, where he teaches and mentors talented high school drum majors from across the Midwest.
Mr. Baum is originally from Northwest Indiana, where he graduated from Lake Central High School. He resides in Fishers.

Adam Brosman -Percussion Director
Adam Brosman is currently the Percussion Director for both Pendleton Heights High School and Middle School. At PHHS he teaches all percussion classes, which includes concert percussion ensemble, drumline, front ensemble, and indoor percussion. At PHMS he teaches all beginning and intermediate level percussion classes and ensembles.
Prior to Pendleton Heights Adam completed his Masters Degree in Music Performance at the University of New Mexico in 2007. During his degree program he studied under Scott Ney and received two Graduate Assistantships. Teaching duties included the UNM Percussion Ensemble, UNM Spirit Marching Band Drumline, percussion methods class, as well as private lessons for music majors and minors. In New Mexico Adam performed with the Santa Fe Symphony, UNM Wind Symphony, UNM Percussion Ensemble, and UNM Marimba Band. While pursuing his graduate degree he worked as a percussion instructor at Rio Rancho High School and Cibola High School both in the Albuquerque area.
Mr. Brosman completed his Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from Butler University in 2005. While working on his undergraduate degree he performed with the Butler Percussion Ensemble, Butler Symphony Orchestra, Butler Steel Drum Ensemble, Butler University Marching Band, as well as various orchestras around the Indianapolis area. Adam also won the Butler Concerto Competition, which allowed him to perform the Rosauro Marimba Concerto No. 1 with the Butler Symphony Orchestra. Following his graduation from Huntington North High School in 2001 he taught percussion at a variety of Indiana schools including Scottsburg High School, Indian Creek High School, and Huntington North High School.
Adam currently resides in Indianapolis with his fiancé Lisa and their dog Quincy. Lisa and Adam are planning their wedding for the fall of 2010.
